God Understands

More than 10 million people have seen the video of Logan, the 13 year old farm boy from Nebraska, USA who called into a Christian radio station in Houston, Texas.  It’s called Logan, the Sky Angel Cowboy.  It goes like this.

Hey Mike, can I talk to you?
You bet Logan, what's up?
I want to tell you something that God just told me.
Okay...

Last night my dad was roping this calf.  And this calf had been born from a really old cow.  She didn't have really the greatest milk; she didn't have like the vitamin C and stuff...
Okay...?
She broke her back... and...  this morning I went out and put her down myself.  (In tears)  I was talking to God and I was asking God why?  She was special.  And God said, "You know, Logan, my Son was special.  But he died for a purpose.  It's kind of the same thing.  That calf was close to me, and God's Son was close to him.
Logan, you're so right.  It's true.  Think you're gonna be okay?
Yeah, I'll be fine.  But I just wanted to tell you guys that it's so important.  Just remember, when you lose a loved one or a pet, always remember that God gave his Son too, and he understands.  He will always understand.  He will always.  Just run to him.
Logan, you're wiser than you know buddy.
Well, sometimes I don't think I'm wise.  Trust me; I've done a lot of stupid stuff.  But I've learned from it.
But see buddy that's what makes you wise: somebody that learns from their mistakes.
Oh, I just figured I better call and share with you guys.  Love you.
Love you too.
Bye.
Bye bye.

Logan the Sky Angel Cowboy lost his calf, special to him as it was.  With a wisdom beyond his years, it was close to him, he says, just as God’s Son was close to Him.

Ever lose anyone close to you?  Ever be broken, utterly?   Yeah, me too.

This child with a little kid voice calls into the grown-up radio station the next American state over in order to say God knows what it means to experience heartache and loss.

And Logan knows, he knows what it is to do stupid stuff.  Go figure.  Apparently, Jesus knew too.  He knew what it is to be tempted, and he definitely knew what it means to suffer.  He knew heartbreak.  He knew temptation.  He knew loss.

So when you go through tough times, understand that it's not Jesus' first rodeo.

Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.  (Hebrews 2:18)

God understands.  Because Jesus is human, he understands.  Because he is God, he can make right what is wrong.

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil…
… he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. (Hebrews 2:14-18)

The author of Hebrews, quoted above, affirms Jesus is human.  Turns out he had to be human.  So remember, when you lose a loved one or a pet, or even if you’ve done stupid stuff, remember that God understands.  He will always understand.  He will always.  Just run to him.
